Course Requirements Next

The interview process is intense and fair. Students are interviewed individually for approximately 25 to 30 minutes.

It is a misconception that students are judged on quality of portfolio alone. Illustration demands an intellectual approach whereby knowledge and understanding of context, content and audience is paramount. Written and verbal communication also plays a big part in professional illustration practice.

Applicants are expected to satisfy the following criteria;

Written and verbal communication - Personal statements, essays and other work if applicable. Conduct during interview.
Academic and intellectual potential - Contextual and theoretical understanding of illustration and related disciplines. Outside interests.
Drawing - Objective and analytical drawing. Life and location.
Design skills - Use of colour and composition, conceptual development, appropriate use of media.
Creativity and innovation - Ideas and originality.
Problem solving - Project development and research.
