The professional
practice part of the course is firmly embedded into the syllabus
and provides information regarding many aspects of employability
and other opportunities.
There is participation in
two important annual London based exhibitions, ‘New
Designers’ at the Business Design Centre and ‘New
Blood’, the D and AD sponsored event. This provides
opportunities for students to present their work to the industry
and so far a significant number have benefited having received
offers of employment and/or freelance commissions.

The
course also supports a week of intensive pre-arranged interviews
and presentations to the creative and media industries and
other appropriate institutions that provide constructive feedback
on students’ work and prospects. New York and London
are the two main places visited. As a bonus some students
are active with commissions from New York and others have
been offered high profile agent representation.
There are sometimes opportunities
to undertake external commissions provided they are academically
appropriate.
