Mike
Venning started off in the field of visual
practice, exploring the territory of conceptual
art, Mike moved into the historical and critical
area, investigating creativity from the cultural
edges of society in his MA. Since then he has concentrated
on the historical, social and cultural background
of illustration, and heads the Historical
and Cultural Studies component of the BA Illustration
and MA Illustration:
Authorial Practice courses at University College Falmouth.
He has worked as an arts journalist, and has a particular
love of poetry and fiction, which contributes to his
research into narratives and the relationship of words
and images.
