| As
an art director, Sue Miller is continually
looking for ways in which Illustration can play a larger role
in the development of graphic ideas from initial conception
to final outcome, and welcomes the use of digital techniques
and mixed media as a way to support creative solutions. Whatever
the outcome, she believes that fluency in drawing lies at
the heart of visual communication. Sue designs and art directs
mainstream magazines and books. Her most recent projects include
the books Plants For People (Eden Project Books), and Bill
Oddie’s How to Watch Wildlife (Collins), the magazine
Uno Stile di Vita (Baglioni), and the development of a magazine
project for Jamie Oliver (GE Fabbri).
Sue has worked on many consumer lifestyle
magazines in the past 25 years including She, Woman’s
Own, Company, Inspirations, BBC Good Food, and was Creative
Director of New Woman for several years. Within these commercial
boundaries she has regularly commissioned illustrators with
such diverse styles and experience as Mick Brownfield, David
Downton and Huntley/Muir to those fresh from college such
as Juliet Percival and Emma Dibben. Alongside her career as
a designer, Sue has illustrated food and health features for
magazines, books, and TV production companies developing storyboards
for commercials including Fiat and Colgate.
